Saligo Bay

The next beach up the west coast from Kilchoman and one of Islay's best. Parking is by (but not in front of) the gate that leads up to Smaull Farm, from there a 10 minute walk across farmland leads to the beach and some pretty spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. From this point 3000 miles due west is the coast line of North America and only water in between. This beach is a mixture of sand and rocks, a good location for photographers and very appealing for children wanting to clamber on the rocks. Not suitable for dog walkers during the lambing season, around Easter each year.
