'Mios ro gach ràith a choltas'
A month before each season, its appearance comes

Due to the plethora of plants and flowers there are a wide variety of butterflies and moths (up to 24 varieties) fluttering busily on Islay. The Burnet Moth (left) is just one easy to 'spot' example but the Large Heath Butterfly, Large White and Drinker Moths are common too. Common Blue, Small Copper, Red Admiral Small Tortoiseshell, Peacock, Grayling, Marsh Fritillary are also usually seen.
While watching the butterflies you may also notice that there are around 12 types of Dragonfly making their homes on Islay.
Islay ... always something new to see!
