Standing proud in the south of the island at Port Ellen, Laphroaig was established in 1815. The distillery was the first to use American Bourbon barrels which do not round whisky with a sherry taste imparted from the casks that traditional whisky makers use. The whisky in its processes also breathes in the island's sea air which imparts a distinctive feel to any of Laphroaig's 10 to 50 years old malts.

Laphroaig has a distinctive and pure taste ... just like Islay.
