You can’t today recall yesterday

Dunvaig Castle is perched on a promentary near Lagavulin and was an important stronghold of the medieval Lords of the Isles. The crumbling stone keep dates from the 17th century; for historians the really interesting feature of the site is the earlier medieval castle with its now ruinous "curtain " wall. The castle is there because of the excellent anchorage of Lagavulin Bay, where the Lords of the Isles could keep their naval force safe from the elements and out of sight of potential enemies.
