Bowmore Distillery
The old meets the new...

Bowmore was built in 1779 and is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. The barley is still turned by hand using the traditional wooden malt shovel.

One of the warehouses at Bowmore was converted into the local swimming pool warmed by recycling the distllery's waste heat

Bowmore has a distinctive 'smoky' and intensely rich flavour to be savoured slowly ... just like Islay.
